Job Description:Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Manager, Infection Control
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 1 in every 25 patients admitted to acute-care hospitals in the United States each year acquire infections that were not related to the condition for which they were hospitalized. Approximately 1.7 million healthcare associated infections (HAI) occur in U.S. hospitals each year, resulting in 99,000 deaths and an estimated $20 billion in healthcare costs.
Although the precise causes HAI’s are difficult to identify, experts believe that about a third could be prevented using current recommendations. The goal of Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Infection Control program is to provide the safest healthcare environment for our patients by using evidence based guidelines to prevent HAIs and to engage in clinical and translational research to further the mission of infection prevention among oncology settings.
Role Overview:
- Provide support required to monitor and maintain MSK’s Infection Prevention and Control Program.
- Coordinate infection prevention activities in Perioperative care settings.
- Supervise and train perioperative infection preventionists (IP)..
- Act as administrator for the National Healthcare Surveillance Network (NHSN), a national database for infection data.
- Based on the site-specific risk assessments, develops surveillance indicators for each site.
- Coordinate all scheduled visits to perioperative sites by IPs and review compliance data.
- Identify practice gaps and facilitate performance improvement initiatives with leaders and key stakeholders.
- Present cohesively on environmental rounds and improvement initiatives to the infection prevention and control committee
- Oversee all perioperative Infection Control Risk Assessments.

- Certification in Infection Control required.

- Coverage of perioperative areas may require flexibility in work schedule
Additional Information:
- Location: Across all MSK Locations (Transportation Provided)
- Schedule: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST, Monday with Friday with on-call weekend shift as needed
- Reporting to: Senior Director, Infection Control
- Pay Range: $118,800.00-$196,200.00
