Responsibilities:Under the direction of the SVP of Business Development, prepares applications, markets new and existing accounts and works directly with our carriers. Provides assistance to producers and senior management in the writing of new business and retaining renewal accounts. Ability to work on larger, more complex accounts including Loss Sensitive, Captives and Alternative Risk vehicles. Ability to place unusual and/or more difficult coverages. Oversee strategy of marketing and work with team members to drive business results. Act as a liaison for other OneGroup team members and work directly with carriers & underwriters to meet carrier profit sharing/contingency goals.
- Prepare applications and/or specifications and reviewing for accuracy and making suggestions for optional and additional coverages. Make submissions to insurance companies, follow up for quotes, negotiate with companies, and meet with producers to review/analyze marketing results for preparation for proposals & comparisons. At times this may include going out with producers to meet the client.
- Awareness and familiarity with insurance company underwriting guidelines and authority.
- Assign new business and renewal placement marketing to the team and also work on new and renewals risks.
- Keep abreast of trends and markets. Research and develop new and improved markets to maintain a competitive status for the accounts brought into the agency as new business.
- Promote a professional and positive working relationship with our various insurance companies. Coordinate & attend insurance company meetings
- Keep current and communicate to business insurance staff on all insurance company’s coverages, rates, changes, forms, communication, appetite etc.
- Prepares summaries and proposals/comparisons for new and renewal accounts that are changing companies.
- Resource for other marketers, account managers, producers and departments.
- Responsible for requesting policies from insurance companies, issuing binders and certificates, auto identification cards and set up activities for invoicing agency billed premiums.
- Working knowledge and competency in use of agency management system, Microsoft Word, and various insurance companies rating systems as required
- Participate in Commercial Strategy Committee meeting to report on carrier contracts and percentage to plan.
- Work closely with team on goal setting and achieving results.
- Oversee the marketing team and help them with negotiation and navigating obstacles.
- Training and development of new members of the marketing team
- Perform other duties as required.
Authority:
- Research new carriers and request new appointments.
- Determine carriers to be approached on prospective accounts.
- Contact carriers, producers and customers as needed.
- Maintain marketing files.
Additional Job Information:
- Participate in seminars and classes for skill and knowledge development.
- Maintain Agent/Broker License through continuing education.
- Minimum 10 years insurance experience required.
- Property Casualty License required.
- Ability to use menu-driven software, agency management system and insurance company websites and rating systems.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills and ability to respond with urgency.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
