About the Job
Bring your financial systems expertise to empower a leading conservation organization. In this role you will manage and optimize the financial systems for a rapidly growing conservation nonprofit with $75M in State and Federal contracts. Reporting to the CFO, you will oversee current financial systems, recommend improvements, and lead implementation of software and process changes. This role impacts accounting, budgeting, reporting, and related systems-- with the ultimate goal to ensure scalable and efficient systems, timely reporting, and reliable financial insights. This is a hybrid remote position, with potential for fully remote. Starting salary range of $100,085 to $144,407 depending on qualifications.

Key Responsiblities
Financial Systems Oversight
- Oversee Point Blue’ s portfolio of financial systems (currently Vena, MIP, Concur, Journyx). Partner closely with cross functional teams to understand their needs and translate into efficient and scalable and cost-effective solutions.
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve financial systems issues promptly minimizing the impact on business operations
- Actively research, identify, and recommend systems initiatives, define business process improvements, and develop functional solutions to improve quality and efficiency of the finance and accounting activities.
- Manage systems-related projects and upgrades. Determine impact of any changes and develop action plans. Lead configuration, testing and user training activities.
- Ensure and maintain strong internal controls, compliance with financial regulations, systems security and data integrity standards.
- Develop a Financial Technology strategy for the next 3-5 years to take advantage of advances in AI and RPA to increase digitization and automation of the finance and accounting activities.
Vena Management
- Oversee the current budgeting system (Vena) and become the in-house expert. Manage Vena system administration. Create and maintain documentation of current Vena model.
- Manage Vena system administration, including updates to tables/codes, and system updates. Supervise data updates to the budget.
- Assess and implement upgrades to the model structure, logic, and reporting.
- Educate and support program staff in developing reliable budgets for public and private funding proposals. Evaluate and improve the user interface and user experience.
Accounting/Financial Management
- Work with the CFO and Controller to support financial planning, forecasting, budgeting and scenario planning. Assist with development of intricate calculations, formulas and logic.
- Support the Controller oversight of accounting and reporting systems to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the financial data and compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Assist with analysis of variances and trends, and develop metrics to monitor and report on progress against annual and long-term goals.
- Provide back-up support to the CFO/Controller as needed.
Summary of Key Qualifications
- 5 years’ experience successfully managing financial systems technology, including system administration, troubleshooting, implementing upgrades, and migrating to new systems. Experience in configuration and customization of off-the-shelf financial software.
- Advanced-knowledge of budgeting software such as Vena, DataRails, Board, etc. Understanding of cloud-based financial systems architecture.
- Expertise with MS Excel.
- Understanding of budgeting and accounting practices and procedures. Knowledge of nonprofit or fund accounting is a plus, but not required.
- Extensive project management experience and skill with best practices; the ability to plan, execute and monitor projects, ensuring timely completion within a budget.
- Understanding of the business and financial implications of decisions made.
- Sensitivity to user’s needs and the user experience. Ability to develop and present training for non-experts.
- Independent and flexible problem solver who can cope positively with complexity and ambiguity. Ability to prioritize competing priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Meticulously organized and detail oriented.
- A love of learning, innovation and efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or equivalent.
