Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the activities of an Agile-based software development team – team members will include a mix of full-time staff and co-sourcing resources.
- Work with the product owner to prioritize activities, break work into actionable units, assign work, and lead day-to-day development activities.
- Supervise technical employees – hire, mentor, develop, manage performance.
- Coordinate activities of any contractors/co-sourcing resources assigned to the team.
- Participate in the leadership team of EnergyCAP's Product and Technology Division Lead.
- Agile-based development team to build, enhance, and maintain enterprise-grade software systems using a variety of leading technologies and tools.
- Provide technical and team leadership through coaching and mentoring.
- Develop high-quality, maintainable software products and services.
- Develop new user-facing features.
- Build reusable code and libraries for future use.
- Provide technical feedback to feature designs to improve reusability of code and improve overall performance/experience.
- Translate UX/UI designs and technical specifications into actionable work items
- Ensure proper automated testing coverage of delivered code (unit, integration, and regression tests).
- Implement best practices and concepts to optimize application for maximum speed and scalability.
- Participate in a peer-review process that ensures all code is consistent with team coding standards and processes.
- Actively participate as a member of an Agile-based team (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, demos, etc.)
- Ensure proper use of version control for code repository management.
- Meet critical software release deadlines while not sacrificing the quality of the product.
- Provide regular feedback in an Agile lifecycle regarding process improvements.
- Effectively lead the Product Engineering Team's daily activities.
- Coordinate activities, requirements, and deliverables with team members and stakeholders.
- Effectively supervise technical staff.
- Coordinate activities with other EnergyCAP departments and teams.
- Lead the development and maintenance of EnergyCAP's products through an Agile-based work environment.
- Translate technical designs into code that produces the visual elements of an enterprise-class web application.
- Lead the development, testing, and deployment of software that satisfies documented business requirements and expected user experience (EnergyCAP uses automated testing for all software projects).
- Lead the development of software that conforms to team coding standards and processes.
- Meet critical software release deadlines while not sacrificing the quality of the product.
- Review software developed by other team members and respond to code-review comments from other developers.
- Develop reusable components, libraries, and services that satisfy multiple business needs.
- Work collaboratively with team members (including a technical writer) to appropriately document delivered software.
- Collaborate as a member of the overall technology team to ensure that delivered software meets business needs, is accurate, and meets performance requirements.
- Continue personal development through provided training opportunities and self-directed activities.
Preferred Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or another technology-related field.
- 5+ years of experience in production-level, software development.
- Prior experience in a technical leadership position – preferred.
