Why This Job
CMC is currently seeking a Manager of Technical Accounting to provide expertise to the Company, under the direction of the Corporate Controller. The Manager of Technical Accounting will have high visibility from working with all levels and functions of the organization to support their technical accounting needs. This role provides a great opportunity to utilize technical experience to implement and evaluate new accounting pronouncements, oversee the accounting treatment for complex transactions, including business combinations and acquisitions, and assist with special projects. You will form partnerships with our senior leadership team and collaborate with different functions to account for CMC’s business processes.

What You'll Do
- Research, evaluate, and implement new accounting pronouncements, and ensure compliance with GAAP during and after implementation
- Research and implement conclusions regarding the accounting treatment for complex transactions and topics (e.g., revenue recognition, stock based compensation, derivatives, leases)
- Draft, review and/or provide guidance for technical memos and analysis; conduct periodic testing including goodwill and intangible asset impairment analyses
- Perform business combination and consolidation accounting, including oversight of purchase accounting and development of pro forma financials
- Partner with Finance, Treasury, M&A, IT and Legal teams on key technical accounting issues
- Monitor accounting policies for consistency and compliance with US GAAP and SEC requirements
- Review contracts for potential accounting matters, research guidance and coordinate with transactional accounting team to ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP
- Represent CMC and assist with questions proposed by the internal and/or external audit teams
- Complete additional duties and/or special projects as assigned in response to changing business conditions and/or requirements
What You'll Need
- Licensed CPA with 5-8 years of experience with a public accounting firm and/or relevant public company industry experience, with responsibility for technical accounting research and ASU implementation
- Excellent accounting skills and an advanced knowledge of US GAAP, combined with a proven ability to research and conclude upon complex accounting issues
- Experience with oversight and review of complex financial analysis
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; ability to establish strong partnerships with all levels of management
- SAP and BPC experience is a plus, but not required
- Energetic, proactive individual with ability to work efficiently and effectively, both in teams and independently
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and environment and manage multiple tasks
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to identify and implement process improvement capabilities
Your Education
- Bachelor’s of Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
