About the Job
Lakeland University, an independent, not-for-profit, liberal arts institution, seeks a diverse pool of candidates for the position of Manager of the Muskie Mart.
Reporting to the Executive Chef and Assistant Director of Dining Services, this position oversees the operation of all sales and production activities in the Muskie Mart (an on-campus convenience store) and assists in the daily operations of the Muskie Grill, including ordering of food and other supplies. Being a cooperative education institution, this position oversees scheduling and training of hourly and student staff and makes recommendations for hiring and promotions and makes appropriate decisions regarding staff discipline. This position works closely with the Director of Dining Services to plan improvements in all aspects of the Muskie Mart and Muskie Grill operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Developing team members through appropriate training, coaching and mentoring to ensure strong operational performance;
Maintaining compliance standards for service and meal quality;
Performing daily audits of safety, sanitation, food quality, meal delivery at point of service and quality standards to optimize financial and operational performance;
Inspects food and food preparation and storage areas to assure all areas are clean, sanitary, and meet sanitation and regulations guidelines. Assure all open food in refrigerators and freezers are covered and dated and that outdated food is discarded promptly;
Performing tasks and input for weekly operating report, cash handling procedures and other financial reports;
Complete annual evaluations of student employees;
Perform other duties as assigned.
SPECIALIZE KNOW-HOW & SKILLS
High School Diploma or equivalent;
Experience in food preparation services;
Demonstrate ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality;
Ability to effectively manage time and priorities;
Ability to prioritize office workflow and make effective administrative decisions to increase efficiency, accuracy, and productivity;
Demonstrated ability to tactfully and effectively communicate (written and verbal) with a variety of individuals;
Strong critical thinking skills;
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) or similar products;
Demonstrates organizational ability, and attention to detail and accuracy;
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment;
Ability to work evenings or weekends as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day;
No or very limited exposure to physical risk;
Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
