The Quality Manager has an excellent attention to detail and is responsible for monitoring and evaluating internal and external production processes, examining products to determine their quality, ensuring a company-wide commitment to Quality, and engaging with customers and gathering product feedback. Manages a small team across internal and external production that assures compliance with applicable quality standards, specifications, company policies, and regulations.
The Quality Manager plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to product quality and reliability while reporting out quality issues, metrics, and trends. Works collaboratively across multiple functions to ensure products are compliant to applicable customer quality standards, safety specifications, company policies, and regulations. May manage others and/or a small team as required.
Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Maintain and manage the Peerless quality programs, including activities, procedures & work instructions, for the company’s ASME “U”; ASME “R”; ISO-9001; 10CFR50, Appendix B; and US Navy programs.
- Perform internal audits to support all quality programs.
- Serve as the Company’s primary interface with outside agencies for quality program audits and re-qualifications.
- Manage documentation and processes related to welder qualifications to assure welders maintain requirements according to ASME processes. Support the development of new processes and qualifications, as needed.
- Manage our Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) program and maintain visibility to the cost of quality.
- Assesses the product specifications of the company and its suppliers and compares with customer requirements.
- Writes quality procedures and provides training to the organization on the use of the quality procedures.
- Liaises with our customers’ quality team and internal and external auditors, representing our Company.
- Works with Purchasing and the supply chain to establish, implement and audit quality requirements for external suppliers.
- Experience with the setup and management of formal quality documentation according to all relevant quality programs. Ability to develop, maintain and revise quality manuals and procedures.
- Manage supplier qualification, maintenance, and audits.
- Manage workflow related to 3rd party inspectors that visit the Denton plant on behalf of our customers.
- Works directly with Operations, Engineering, Customer Service, Purchasing and Sales team to develop and validate processes designed to exceed customer requirements and on time delivery.
- Leads continual improvement projects to achieve quality objectives and metrics targets using LEAN principles.
- Ensures the execution of corrective action and compliance with customers’ specifications.
- Able to maintain digital information in an organized manner on a shared network with visibility to revision controls.
- Prepares monthly Quality reports: issues, metrics, and improvements.
- Assesses the impact of regulatory changes that affect operations, raises awareness, and ensures compliance.
- Incumbents are expected to travel 15-20% of the time; site visits to suppliers and customer operations facilities are expected.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- 7+ years of experience as a Quality Engineering for industrial equipment manufacturer.
- Experience with ISO 9001 required.
- Experience with ASME codes for fabrication; required.
- MS Office Suite; required.
- Willing to travel 15-20% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing experience.
- Experience with 8Ds, corrective action, and preventive action programs.
- CWI or ASQ Certification (Quality Auditor, Quality Engineer, Quality Improvement Associate)
- Oil & Gas, Energy equipment industry-specific experience; preferred.
- Structural Steel and Piping equipment industry-specific experience.
