Manager - Recovery Risk (On-Site) - Shellpoint Mortgage Servicing

Who we are

Shellpoint Mortgage Servicing (SMS) is one of Americas top-five non-bank mortgage-servicing companies. What is mortgage servicing? Our clients are businesses that own mortgage loans (such as banks and real estate investment firms). On their behalf, we manage (or "service") their loan portfolios, which means that we collect homeowners mortgage payments, pay their tax and insurance bills, and help homeowners in default to get current.

The Manager - Recovery Risk is responsible for managing multiple Recovery teams, including the Deficiency Review, Admin, Risk Analyst teams. Manager - Recovery Risk is responsible for manage relationship between Recovery and Compliance/Audit functions, managing all internal and external audit reviews and responses, managing the Recovery departments inline testing, and managing Recovery Letters.

The Manager - Recovery Risk is responsible for the ongoing monitoring of the internal control environment within Recovery, including evaluating operating procedures, and making recommendations for changes in operations to minimize risk and ensure compliance within the department. They provide project management support for system changes as required within Recovery when issues are identified, ensure Recovery procedures are updated as needed and accurately reflect operations, and assist in the boarding of Recovery loans.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Works with management to develop sound internal controls for the Recovery department.
• Provides ongoing support to the Recovery department to address deficiencies identified in operating procedures and implement changes as needed.
• Ensures that Procedures accurately reflect Recovery Operations and ensures procedure changes are communicated and executed within the department.
• Performs ongoing reviews of high-risk transactions within Recovery to evaluate the effectiveness of the control environment. This includes internal audits performance by the Recovery Risk Analysts.
• Works closely with other departments such as Compliance, Legal, and IT to ensure Recovery implements required system and business changes as needed.
• Works closely with other departments that perform shared services, such as Correspondence and Loan Servicing, to ensure Recovery items are properly handled.
• Manages Year-End tax processes for Recovery department to ensure required tax forms are issued to customers.
• Assist with Recovery Credit Reporting issues and changes as needed.
• Complete monthly review of accounts to ensure SOX controls are met.
• Participate in various special projects and corporate-level initiatives, as necessary. Perform personnel managerial duties such as goal setting and tracking, performance monitoring and coaching, ensuring associate engagement, and other typical managerial duties.
• Performs related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Bachelors degree required, preferably in Accounting, Business, or Management
• 6-8 years mortgage servicing experience required, preferably in mortgage and/or post charge-off collections.
• 2+ Years previous Audit experience required.
• 2+ years previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience in reading and analyzing documents, including loan documents or servicing/collection agreements.
• Experience with internal company policies and procedures.
