Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager to lead our boat building and restoration operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for woodworking, a deep understanding of the boat-building industry, and strong leadership skills. This role involves overseeing daily operations, managing a team of skilled craftspeople, and ensuring that all projects are completed to the highest standards of quality and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of the boat-building and restoration shop.
- Lead a team of craftsmen, ensuring projects meet quality standards and deadlines.
- Coordinate project timelines, materials procurement, and client communications.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and shop regulations.
- Maintain high standards for craftsmanship, materials, and customer service.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Develop and manage the shop's budget, including labor, materials, and equipment.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their vision and provide updates throughout the project.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, techniques, and innovations in wood boat building and restoration.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience in boat building, restoration, woodworking, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of traditional and modern wood boat construction and restoration techniques.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication abilities.
- Ability to work with a wide range of clients and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Financial acumen, with experience in budgeting and cost management.
- Passion for maritime heritage and craftsmanship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with both custom wood boat building and historical restoration.
- Hands-on experience in woodworking or boatbuilding.
- Knowledge of modern tools, techniques, and materials used in the industry.
