Overview
:The Manager – Component Sourcing is responsible for the procurement of gemstones and components, executing vendor strategy as communicated by the Director of Product Development, taking the lead and/or participation in price negotiation. This position is further responsible for training, mentoring and outlining daily staff responsibilities toward the achievement of assigned goals. This position will work closely with the Product Development Team as well as HSM Thailand in acquisition of gemstones. This position will work to create a collaborative team by utilizing and improving the talents within the Home Office, expertise within HSM Thailand to enhance efficiencies, productivity and improve quality and costs. This position will continuously monitor and evaluate vendor performance, pricing and delivery to determine appropriate key supply sources.
Responsibilities
:- Run or delegate the creation demand reporting for all gemstone components and work with Buy Planner on minimums/maximums to ensure proper inventory is available upon demand.
- Responsible for communication with HSM ensuring that both WSM and HSM are aware of all open order, color standards and product movement.
- Work with the Assistant Manager Gemstone - Procurement to create purchase orders, select vendor based on Director of PD’s strategic direction, negotiate costs when appropriate.
- Oversee the team in tracking all open orders, work with vendors on delivery dates to ensure lead times are met.
- Communicate to the Director of Product Development and/or all cross functional teams any supply problems which may impact the business operations.
- Oversee, guide and train teams in grading, sorting and ensuring quality standards are adhered to. Guide the team regarding proper invoicing/costs and determination of acceptable rejection rates.
- Communicate all rejections to vendor with explanation and reason codes – ensure vendor understands and does not repeat. Identify when/if a vendor will be unable to sustain deliverable product to WSM.
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
- Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities.
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers.
- Provide analysis on costs, new and existing and review cost reduction activities.
- Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements.
- Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures and Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA’s) are filled out and filed.
- Conduct research for new components and suppliers bi yearly and submit findings to Director – Product Development.
- Compile data relating to supplier performance to enable evaluation: Perform KPI analysis.
- Bi yearly, assess and evaluate suppliers and contribute to performance reviews to ensure contract compliance.
Qualifications
:- 3+ years of experience globally sourcing and/or purchasing gemstones (corundum, semi-precious, mineral and pearls). Gemological certification preferred.
- Excellent time management, organizational skills, and great follow through.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Analytical, numerically astute with strong demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
- Able to multitask, work well under pressure and handle emergency and stressful situations.
- Capability to work cross functionally across a large organization.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Intermediate ability in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
- Familiarity with an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and/or Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
- Demonstrated ability to engage interest and participation of others and has a collaborative approach to working together. Proactively contributes to the team.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally as required.

Work Environment
:This role is an on-site part of the Home Office team. The primary environment for this role is an open office. Considerable business is conducted using the telephone and computer technology. This role may be approved to work remotely on specific occasions but that does not change the ongoing classification of the role as on-site. Travel may be required to stores, conferences, events and, potentially, internationally less than 20% of the time.

Base Pay range for this role is $95,000 to $125,000/annually, which applies to this specific role. Your placement in the range is determined through interviews, a review of experience, knowledge, skills, balanced pay with other team members and alignment with geographic market data. Home office base pay ranges are based on the Denver market. We target most new hire offers toward the lower end of the listed range, but more demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills may result in a higher starting rate.
Beyond Base Pay: Home office positions are eligible for consideration for an annual bonus, based on total company performance. Amounts vary by role and are based on a percentage of eligible earnings for the fiscal year.
