Join one of the most prestigious and feared Magic Circle law firms, renowned for its exceptional legal expertise and high-profile clientele. Our client is seeking an experienced Managing Clerk for their New York City office.
Location: New York City, NY
Type: Permanent- Full time | Monday- Friday, 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM | 4 days in office - 1 rotating day remote
Reporting To: Practice Group Attorney(s)
Compensation: $115,000K to $140,000K, Exempt
The final salary will be determined based on experience.
The Managing Clerk will work closely with all practice groups, primarily Disputes, collaborating with Associates, Counsel, Partners, and Paralegals. The primary responsibilities include advising attorneys on state and federal court rules, overseeing and executing court filings, and maintaining the firm's docket and calendar.

Responsibilities:
The Managing Clerk will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff to complete electronic filing and docketing for the firm.
- Oversee electronic filing, hard copy filing, service, processing, and retrieval of court documents.
- Provide procedural guidance, support, and advice to lawyers regarding motion practice, policy, and procedures.
- Review all served and/or filed documents for accuracy, format, and procedural compliance.
- Maintain the firm's case management docketing system for all practice groups.
- Ensure timely notification of filing deadlines and court appearances to attorneys.
- Assess incoming court documents and correspondence to calculate and calendar relevant deadlines using the firm's docketing system.
- Manage and coordinate legal services required outside the firm, such as service of process and retrieval of documents.
- Assist with drafting and revising court submissions, including stipulations, notices of appearance, court-required forms, and applications for pro hac vice admission.
- Review new cases and rule changes to keep lawyers informed of recent developments under state rules, FRCP, and FRAP.
- Monitor cases in state and federal courts, and government and administrative agencies on all active matters.
- Search and retrieve information from court-related databases including PACER, Bloomberg Law, CourtAlert, Lexis, Westlaw, Courtlink, and NYS Unified Court Systems.
- Develop working relationships with court and judicial employees to discuss court procedures.
- Collect, maintain, and update attorney information and e-filing credentials.
- Coordinate with paralegals on managing clerk functions.
- Provide assistance and advice to the firm's global offices regarding notarization and legalization of documents
- Engage in collaborative efforts within the firm to improve internal procedures.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 + years of experience as a docket or managing clerk.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local court systems (including e-filing) and procedural rules
- In-depth understanding of the litigation docketing and calendaring process.
- Willingness to work outside of normal hours when necessary.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
- Good judgment with a strong ability to follow through on assigned tasks.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ensuring clarity and proper grammar.
