About the Job
THE SHOP, a B2B trade media brand of Cahaba Media Group (CMG), is seeking a Managing Editor responsible for producing a daily e-newsletter, posting on social media, managing digital content for the brand, and offering editorial support for monthly print issues of THE SHOP Magazine, all directed at our qualified audience of automotive aftermarket professionals.
Extremely strong editing, writing, computer and deadline skills are a must. Experience producing an e-newsletter and/or using Drupal/WordPress or related programs is preferred. A familiarity with or interest in custom vehicle markets such as racing/motorsports, accessorization, off-road/overlanding, restoration and/or related is a definite plus but not a requirement.
This is a full-time remote work position. Apply if you:
- Have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or communications
- Have at least 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience
- Have copyediting experience
- Have reporting and writing experience
- Love meeting new people and being part of the car, truck and SUV world
- Are familiar with AP Style, InDesign, Drupal/WordPress (or similar content
management systems), Airtable, and/or Hootsuite
Your main responsibilities as Managing Editor:
- Producing a daily e-newsletter, including assigning, writing, editing, posting on website and production
- Monitoring press announcements and industry news for article leads
- Working with advertisers on sponsored content
- Managing social media for the brand
- Interpreting analytics and sharing key findings with the internal team
- Conducting website SEO tagging and archive work
- Assisting with print magazine projects
- Writing in-house bylines and other content as needed
- Attending in-person (some travel required) and virtual trade shows
- Handling client outreach as requested by sales team
- Performing other responsibilities as needed
