Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join our operations team. Since 1969, our company has been a leader in designing and manufacturing commercial high-speed and microwave ovens used in some of the most well-known restaurants. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a key role in driving continuous improvement and enhancing quality, cost efficiency, and production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing methods and processes.
- Assist in resolving day-to-day material, quality, welding, fabrication, and assembly issues.
- Implement process control techniques and technical training in manufacturing environments.
- Analyze manufacturing process flows to enhance safety, quality, cost reduction, and throughput.
- Develop processes, cost analysis, fixture designs, area layouts, quality plans, labor plans, and inspection plans for product changes and new products.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement events or projects.
- Investigate manufacturing problems, provide root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Perform statistical analysis and process capability studies to control variation in production processes.
- Collaborate effectively with all functional areas and provide leadership to contractors and manufacturing personnel.
- Serve as a backup to production managers, providing support to hourly production associates.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
- 2-5 years of related work experience with proven results in product, process, and quality improvements, as well as cost and efficiency savings.
- Experience or training in resistance/projection welding is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze root causes and implement solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster collaborative working relationships across various functional areas, including production, design engineering, procurement, and finance.
- Proficiency with computer systems and software.
