About the Job
General Description:
Improve existing and develop new processes throughout the general factory; to assist with troubleshooting in various departments; to assist with engineering responsibilities including drafting, tool & machine detailing, and maintenance of equipment; participate in Safety Committee and trade association activities as required; maintain plant layout and physical condition of building.
Responsibilities:
- Engineering Process Execution and Improvement (60%)
- Perform self-directed work detailing new tools and equipment.
- Program all new/existing parts utilizing appropriate software.
- Assist in maintaining books of standards as required for quality system.
- Create and maintain files for engineering functions, using existing PC and software.
- Assist in design of plant layouts.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable government environmental regulations, including EPA standards
- Assist in troubleshooting processes and procedures for engineering and maintenance
- Assist in improving existing processes
- Production Support and Set-Up (20%)
- Update Machine Shop Estimating program data to our machine data
- Work with department to develop specifications for maintenance of existing equipment, and for new or replacement equipment
- Assist in troubleshooting processes and procedures for engineering, production and maintenance
- Assist in maintaining physical plant, monitor need for building repairs and have repairs performed as needed thru maintenance department
- Assist with contacting vendors for physical plant maintenance; hire outside contractors as necessary thru maintenance department
- Anticipate and plan for future facility / engineering needs
- Purchase and implement all new equipment
- Assist with the purchase of perishable tooling and supplies and other general supplies when needed
- Quoting (10%)
- Use software and general knowledge to develop cycle times
- Develop manufacturing processes to produce quote
- Work with outside vendors to meet part drawing needs
- Drawings (5%)
- Use CAD software to create and revise all engineering drawings.
- Other duties as required (5%)
- Participate in Safety Committee
- Oversee compliance with applicable government safety regulations, including OSHA standards
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor degree in a related field
- Or equivalent training and experience in manufacturing technology such as CAD & manual drafting or automation technology
- Minimum 5 years' experience in CAD software
