Purpose of Role
As a Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for supporting safety, quality, cost and productivity for daily operations of various manufacturing processes, equipment, and departments across the facility.Additionally, the role will lead or support planning, organizing, implementing, and management of both process and capital initiatives as assigned. The Manufacturing Engineer may be asked to provide report materials, studies and analysis as necessary to communicate both to upper management as well as floor level members of the organization. The Manufacturing Engineer will also support operational and transportational analysis, continuous process improvements, engineered labour standards (ELS) updates, warehouse management system configuration as well as facility and capacity planning support as required to ensure the successful implementation of any assigned activities. Prioritization of safety, quality, productivity, cost, and regulatory requirements are critical to success in this role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Support development of standard work documentation for any new processes or equipment created as a result of project activity
Develop, maintain and support process control systems and documentation
Demonstrate innovation in developing new manufacturing techniques and equipment
Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics relative to both product, equipment and facilities
Assess and optimize processes design and manufacturing equipment within the facility to support business needs
Communicate effectively to members of both the plant and executive leadership of the organization
Manage large-scale material handling, equipment, facility development and improvement projects from conception through startup to ensure on time, under budget and performance objective results are met
Develop efficient layouts, workstations, and material handling systems for new and existing facilities
Own, lead, & execute key areas of: Manufacturing process design, Line layout, implement lean manufacturing concepts
Hands on approach to process development, time studies and analyze data to improve efficiency as well as ergonomic analysis of processes for safety
Develop sketches, engineering drawings and common computations for components and designs as required
Structured problem solving and root cause analysis in support of continuous improvement
Develop FMEA (failure mode effects analysis) in support of process documentation and design as required
Provide and deliver project status reports as required
Support all equipment and process efficiency goals and objectives
Support budget reporting and maintenance
Support multiple departments, operations and special projects

Professional Skills, Qualifications, and Competencies:
Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or similar, Engineering major required, Six Sigma & Lean Manufacturing trained preferred, Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing role, Experience with Statistical Analysis and Operations Research an asset
Language Skills: Possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English with ability to advocate for and present recommendations to senior leadership
Ability to Reason: Be able to function in a fast-paced office, manufacturing, and warehouse environment in a professional manner, Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as cross departmental, Experience leading or supporting capital activity
Computer Skills: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Project. Knowledge of Solidworks and Autocad is required.
Other: Ability to work additional hours as required in support of a project assignment
