As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Development and implementation of improvements related to safety, quality, service, and cost (productivity) in the Decatur Internals – Chemical areas 
• Ability to perform root cause analysis and apply systematic problem-solving skills
• Development and implementation of cross-functional projects, plans, and programs in support of business and strategic plans new process start-ups, new process technology integration, aggressive cost reduction, and supply chain improvement using Lean Six Sigma tools
• Drive process development, recommend new equipment and modification to support cost improvements and new material introductions
• As necessary, ability to cover production runs in a 24/7 manufacturing environment

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
• Three (3) years of combined experience in product engineering, process engineering, project engineering or management in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution
• Seven (7) years of combined experience in product engineering, process engineering, project engineering or management, and/or quality engineering in a private, public, government or military environment
• Training and experience in Lean methodology, statistics, SPC, DOE, and Six Sigma
• Green Belt/Black Belt certification
• Demonstrated results driving projects/initiatives related to product quality improvement, unit cost modeling, and cost reduction projects
• Demonstrated results leading product improvement projects
• Experience leading or participating on cross functional teams, especially across multiple sites or divisions
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong communication skills both verbal and written, analytical and organizational skills to manage different priorities
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task and remain flexible to changes; responds with a sense of urgency
• Technical experience in batch reactor manufacturing

Work location: On-site Decatur, AL

Travel: May include up to 10% (domestic/international)

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $119,076 - $145,537, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
