This role involves supporting and improving manufacturing processes for surgical products in the medical device industry. The Manufacturing Engineer III will work within cross-functional teams to develop, validate, and manage manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment. They will champion quality improvements, address manufacturing challenges, and provide technical expertise on processes.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with teams across Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality, Planning, Purchasing, Regulatory, and Manufacturing.
- Design, develop, and validate manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
- Implement and validate new or modified manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Guide internal and supplier transfers for products and processes.
- Select and validate replacement materials for products.
- Develop and maintain Manufacturing Procedures, Work Instructions, BOMs, Routers, and DMRs.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues, resolve supplier quality concerns, and reduce rework, scrap, and labor variances.
- Identify and apply new manufacturing technologies and process improvements.
- Represent the Manufacturing Engineering team on strategic projects.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 6 years of engineering experience, with medical device industry experience required.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Solidworks, IQ, OQ, PQ qualifications.
- Familiarity with GMPs, ISO 13485 Design Control.
- Manufacturing processes (e.g., metal and plastics processing, mechanical assembly).
- Cleanroom practices (preferred).
- Machine/tool design, equipment design, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement methods (preferred).
- Six Sigma knowledge (certification preferred), Minitab software.
- Skills:
- Analytical skills for troubleshooting and optimizing processes.
- Understanding of financial analysis for product costs and capital investments.
- Strong communication, team-building, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with Agile and Oracle systems (preferred).
- Other Requirements: On-site presence, up to 10% domestic travel.
