Manufacturing Engineer is a critical role at ONICON. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our production processes. This includes the development of assembly and test procedures for new products, implementing data collection, and rolling out process changes. This is an ONSITE POSITION at our Largo, FL facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, implement, and support manufacturing processes used to produce products that meet design requirements.
- Provide day-to-day support to manufacturing operations to ensure quality, cost, and operational goals are met.
Other Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Utilize Six Sigma/Lean tools and techniques to drive changes and improvements.
- Work closely with IT, Product Management, Operations, and various Engineers when designing and implementing production processes.
- Implement quality and process Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for existing and new products to ensure processes stay under control and within limits.
- Optimize facility layouts, production lines, and machine operations to establish proper line balancing and production flow.
- Lead or participate in cost-reduction workshops with Operations and Engineering teams to reduce costs and improve quality.
- Write new and update existing work instructions for testing and manufacturing processes.
- Take direction from the operations team to use data from process measurements to recommend and implement improvements with goals such as increasing throughput, reducing rework and scrap, and improving process yield.
- Initial troubleshooting of equipment and PC errors and simple fixes. Escalate appropriately as needed.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Electrical preferred)
- 2+ years of work experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and tool designs.
- Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance.
- Good written and communication skills with the ability to work in a strong team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Greenbelt or Blackbelt Lean Certification
- Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing
- Working knowledge in a high-level programming language (such as Python)
- Knowledge and understanding of tooling prints, art prints, inspection procedures, FMEA, and SPC analysis.
- Experience using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, and thread gauges.
- Can read and understand mechanical part drawings, measurement limits, and other specifications
Computer Skills
- Expert level MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and Outlook experience.
- Experience with programmatic data collection (utilizing such tools as VBA, LabVIEW, Python or other programs)
- Experience with MRP/ERP Software (Microsoft Dynamics NAV preferred).
