As a contract and private label manufacturer, Valentine Enterprises Lawrenceville facility is a 300,000 square feet state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. This facility is equipped for contract blending, filling, bulk fills and flexible packaging solutions. In addition, VEI staffs a full product development lab that excels in flavor profiles and custom formulation, making each product precise and unique.

Job DescriptionSummary/Objective: Detail oriented Manufacturing Engineer who will be responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, while ensuring product quality in a GMP environment, and is able to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Will create, lead, and manage those engineering projects which will include coordinating resources and timelines to ensure the successful implementation of new processes and technologies.

- Design, develop, & optimize all manufacturing engineering projects including defining the project scope, project activities, milestones, contractor requirements as well as plant and customer requirements.
- Develops and maintains a schedule and budget for the approved engineering project.
- Provides reports on the status of project milestones and adjusts schedules accordingly.
- Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget and is responsible for project forecasting and spending, which includes creating and tracking Purchase Orders within VEI’s ERP system.
- Works with various departments to create an annual capital expenditures proposal for submission to the board of directors.
- Identifies project staffing requirements and coordinates staffing with supporting organization managers.
- Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages.
- Assigns and oversees project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and product testing.
- Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, quality compliance, and related specifications.
- Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
- Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
- Prepares interim and completion project reports that may be distributed to customers, project team, and management as necessary.
- Attends FATs for new equipment and records/reports any findings or improvements.
- Comply with all safety and SOP procedures
Non-Essential Functions: Operate a forklift
Qualifications
Required Education, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering or equivalent work experience or a combination of both.
- Must have previous experience working as an engineer for technical projects in a manufacturing facility.
- Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience in manufacturing, facilities, equipment, and electrical.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal & written.
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with Project Tracking Software (example: Microsoft Project)
- Must be able to travel up to 5%-10% of the time.
- Able to produce Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings.
Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience
- Forklift certified.
- Project management experience.
- Experience working in a food manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of HVAC, Dust Collection, and Building Structural Engineering.
- Ability to initiate and/or lead a Kaizen event.
- Six-Sigma yellow belt or higher.
- ERP experience.
