TITLE: Manufacturing Engineer
FLSA: Exempt
General Summary
Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; soliciting input from operators. Assists in manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment. Provides manufacturing information for accurate manufacturing costs by calculating production, labor, and material costs. Track and send out gauging for calibration on a timely basis. Responsible for quality and safety and manufacturing support.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and design products, gauges, fixtures & tools using SolidWorks.
- Create and maintain costing sheets and Bills of Material.
- Create and maintain production setup documentation.
- Work with manufacturing manager to establish processes, programs, procedures, gauging.
- Maintain and update production schedule as required.
- Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements.
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
- Apply working knowledge of product design and assembly to the manufacturing process.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and cross-departmental meetings to ensure collaborating and cohesion.
- Establish an effective and efficient work sequence.
- Responsible for Quality and Safety, including acting as the company Safety Officer and updating manuals as necessary.
- Track and send out gauging for calibration on a timely basis to ensure they are up to date.
- Devise new solutions to existing manufacturing problems.
- Develop standardized design criteria across all product lines.
- Special projects and/or other duties as assigned.
- Confirm accuracy of incoming ordered tools and raw material quantity.
- Setup and operate machines as required by manufacturing,
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Ability to Assess, manage and mitigate risks.
- Ability to write clearly to communicate internally and with vendors and/or customers.
- Ability to work well under limited supervision.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with others within and outside of the company via conversation, email, etc.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Ability to create new models and drawings in 3D Design Program, preferably SolidWorks.
- Ability to work with a CAD/CAM Computer System.
- Physical ability to lift and carry items weighing less than 50 pounds for less than 5 percent of work time.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Effective organizational and time management skills including keeping your work area tidy.
- Advanced knowledge & comfort level with various computer software systems, including Microsoft Office suite. A solid understanding of working with Excel, tables, lookups, macros, etc. a must.
- Knowledge of, or desire to learn SQL queries for SAP Business One.
- Proven working experience in Engineering and Design, as well as quality control experience in product manufacturing. Proven understanding of machining processes is a must. S. degree preferred but not required.
