We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Maintenance Engineer to join our Plant Operations team. This hands-on role combines engineering expertise with direct involvement in maintaining, optimizing, and enhancing our manufacturing equipment and processes. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that all production equipment operates efficiently, safely, and reliably, minimizing downtime and supporting production targets.
In this role, you will lead efforts in developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs, diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues, and driving continuous improvements in equipment performance. You will also manage vendor relationships and spare parts inventory, ensuring timely repairs and equipment optimization. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design equipment modifications, support emergency repairs, and optimize production processes for improved efficiency and safety.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, with practical experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and equipment upgrades. Success in this role requires a blend of technical expertise, hands-on problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities:
Preventative Maintenance:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all food processing equipment.
- Schedule and conduct regular maintenance inspections to ensure optimal equipment performance and prevent unexpected breakdowns.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure timely execution of maintenance tasks, reducing downtime and ensuring maximum equipment uptime.
Troubleshooting and Repair:
- Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions quickly to minimize production disruptions.
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Support emergency repairs and breakdown recovery efforts across all equipment types, from conveyors to mixers and packaging machinery.
Engineering Modifications and Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades, modifications, and enhancements to improve efficiency, safety, and reliability.
- Design and implement engineering solutions to improve production flow, reduce waste, and increase overall plant efficiency.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to optimize equipment settings for different product types and batches.
Fabrication and Custom Design:
- Design and oversee the fabrication of custom equipment or modifications to existing equipment to meet specific production needs.
- Partner with external vendors, machinists, or in-house fabricators to ensure designs are built to specification and meet regulatory standards.
Equipment Performance Optimization:
- Monitor and analyze equipment performance data to ensure it operates at peak efficiency.
- Implement and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment performance, including downtime, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and production yield.
- Utilize lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvements in production equipment and processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with PLC controller, mechanical systems, welding, and fabrication techniques.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, materials, and equipment.
