International Corporation, a leading North American truck manufacturer with great products, a strong market position and best-in-class distribution network, has an exciting new opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer - Supply Chain and Logistics to join our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Team at our Advanced Technology Center in Elmendorf, TX just outside of San Antonio.
The Manufacturing Engineer - Supply Chain and Logistics will support the development of supply chain processes, equipment and activities for high voltage batteries. Travel can be up to 50% at any Navistar plants in US, Mexico, Europe and Asia.
- Develop associated logistics equipment and tooling designs.
Lead select projects from concept thru procurement, installation, and commissioning - Work closely with manufacturing to develop material delivery strategy
Develop requirements for equipment to process, convey and store inbound and outbound product - Deployment of Lean Material Flow strategies at the plant and supporting warehouse
- Establish and maintain time studies for plant specific materials team members
- Establish and maintain standard work instructions for plant specific materials team members
- Provide Industrial Engineering analysis on cost improvement initiatives
- Ownership of layouts for supply chain managed footprints
- Support and track Lean Assessments and Value Stream Mapping sessions
- Define local CIR’s, gap closure plans and project plans based off of plant Supply Chain Engineer’s findings through project management functions
- Develop/maintain 5S, KPI programs for supporting warehouse(s)
- Monitor plant/warehouse Supply Chain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)and implement corrective actions for KPIs that fall below allowable thresholds
- Identification, participation from IE perspective, and implementation of cost savings and waste elimination initiatives
- Ideal Warehouse and Replenishment up keep and validation at WHQ level
- Interface with PFEP/Containers team for part planning accuracy, compliance and feedback
- Support plant Supply Chain Engineers and 3PL providers as needed
- Standardize supply chain processes by benchmarking other facilities’ processes and integration best practices and standards into new process development.
- Assist with development of project workplans, timelines, and resource requirements
- Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results
- Assist with development of process specific equipment. Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment
- Represents manufacturing supply chain on cross-functional and cross brand teams.
- Capture lessons learned from on-site build events and support all activities to implement improvements to process and equipment
- Contribute to the development and improvement of quality control processes and procedures through working closely with the quality team and R&D.
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 5 years of experience in product manufacturing
OR
- Master’s degree
- At least 3 years of experience in product manufacturing
OR
- At least 7 years of experience in product manufacturing
- Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. - Proficiency with AutoCad, Unigraphics or NX highly desired
- MS Project or other project management software
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering, is preferred
- Experience with automated tooling design and procurement, and robotic systems is highly desired
- Experience with ASRS systems, automated line feeding, kitting, packaging
- Experience with truck or automotive assembly is a plus
- Knowledge of electric vehicle technology and battery assembly is a plus
- Knowledge of Logistics and Transportation processes preferred
- Detailed analytical skills
- Experience with project design, execution and sustainment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to understand and organize complex sets of data
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and complete work in a timely manner in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision
- Ability to interact with all levels of management at the local and division levels
- Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
- Ability to take an active role and participate on cross functional teams across multiple brands
- Proven ability to initiate and support change to the organization
