JOB SUMMARY:
Supports the Business and Department Action Plan objectives with focus on Production support activities, planning scrap reduction, part quality improvements, streamline Client, and indirect material cost reductions. Responsible for new and revised product/process implementation activities. Investigates and introduces new technologies into the business. Communicates directly with and supports customer and supplier technical request activities. Provides technical support to other departments as needed. Promotes a positive attitude toward teamwork, safety, and quality service. Generally, working time is divided approximately 60% floor to 40% office work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Support Production operation by troubleshooting and resolving machine and process problems as they develop such as, but not limited to; chip control, machine crash recovery, stability, capability, short stoppages, and recurring machine operation problems.
- Create and improve training and standardization of operations such as, but not limited to; operator control panel interfacing, measurements, machine offsets, tool changes, resetting alarms, and coolant maintenance.
- Identify and implement kaizen improvements such as, but not limited to; short stop reduction, cause and effect identification/solution, fatigue reduction, single piece flow, and pokayoke operations.
- Uses statistical methods to understand process variability, capability, and drive process improvements as well as developing contingency plans for capacity/productivity changes.
- Responsible for the management of documentation such as, but not limited to; SOPs, control plans, FMEAs, forms, check-sheets, inspection records, engineering drawings, etc.
- Supports Business and Department Action Plan objectives with focus on scrap reduction, streamline Client, and cost reductions.
- Support customer and internal quality concern counter measure activities (root-cause-corrective-actions).
- Demonstrates ability to resolve problems systematically using appropriate problem-solving tools and techniques such as but not limited to; 5-Why, 8-D, D.O.E., capability studies, etc.
- Leads investigations and make recommendations for cost reduction activities related to man, machine, methods, and materials.
- Applies Lean Manufacturing philosophies such as but not limited to; value stream maps, Standardized work, JIT, PDCA, SMED, 5S, SPC, etc.
- Collects and interprets engineering data such as, but not limited to; machine cycle time, motion analysis, capacity planning, tooling design, ergonomics, process layout, cost reduction, etc.
- Selects tools and consumable materials necessary for cost and time efficient manufacturing.
- Work with vendors to determine product specifications, support arranging the purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluating products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Selects machine consumable parts for proper maintenance of the equipment.
- Supports plant activities to achieve customer awards and quality registrations such as but not limited to; IATF16949, ISO 14001, etc.
- Responsible for preparing capital requests and synchronizing site functions through all phases of process improvements including new assets. Ensures compliance to scope, cost and schedule.
- Supports activities centered on new product launches, technical problem solving, process improvement, and resolving engineering design and quality challenges.
- Specifies facility and/or processes to meet any mandated regulations such as but not limited to; OSHA, NFPA, etc.
- May be required to assist the off shifts with any processing problems that may arise.
- Supports the Quality department in the design of gauges and fixtures.
QUALIFICATIONS: (TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a minimum 10 years experience in manufacturing engineering role required, or a combination of education and experience.
- Computer literate in MS Office software (Word, Excel, and Access).
- Experienced user of AutoCAD or equivalent.
- Able to interpret product drawings and to make tool and fixture drawings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication as well as analytical skills.
- PLC and HMI control system knowledge preferred.
- Experience with CNC machine tool programming and/or Fanuc robot programming.
