About the Job
This Manufacturing Engineering position is charged with development and implementation of fabrication, assembly and sub-assembly operations including all supporting documentation, equipment, tooling, and training. The integration of product revisions and new products into production is a key area of accountability. The position will require the individual to work in and lead cross functional teams. Validation of labor requirements and updating of the work content, standards and routing order for operations will be a fundamental area of responsibility. Recommendations and specification of capital equipment including but not limited to process equipment, automation advancement, and facility mechanicals is also integrated into this function.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Improving efficiency and flow of the production line with emphasis on fabrication process and assembly.
- Developing layouts for assembly, fabricating and sub-assembly cells.
- Participating in cross functional teams applying best practices to manufacturing processes.
- Working with the Design Engineering and Operations on DFM projects.
- Maintaining and updating shop floor layouts utilizing current CAD software.
- Conducting root cause analysis and taking corrective action for issues generating EHS, Quality, Productivity and Cost deficiencies.
- Project management responsibilities in the integration of innovation and technology advancements as they relate to manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Integration of new products into the manufacturing process.
- Develops action plans and budgetary estimates required for project completion: labor, materials space, capital etc.
- Responsible for tracking and monitoring progress of manufacturing project(s) comparing actual costs with budget projections.
- Manufacturing engineering point of contact for Operational support in the department or area assigned.
Characteristics and skills:
- Proven expertise as a Manufacturing, or Industrial engineer.
- Hands-on experience using design and calculation software.
- Ability to work independently and in a demanding environment.
- Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Educational and other requirements:
- Must have Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline.
- 5 years minimum experience in a production environment with a process and product improvement focus.
- AutoCAD and/or Solidworks experience.
- Good administrative, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the business unit.
- A change agent with expertise in managing product, and/or process revisions meeting criteria.
- Familiar with quality systems and quality requirements.
- Six Sigma experience is highly desirable.
- Experience with lean principles (5S, kaizen, value stream mapping, demand flow etc.)
- Good mechanical, analytical, and technical skills.
- At least 5 years of experience in production processes: Cutting, Bending, Welding, Metal fabrication, and Assembly.
- Preferred 5 years of experience in an IATF16949 / ISO9002 manufacturing environment.
- Must be an initiative-taker capable of working both independently, as well as part of a team.
- At least 5 years of related manufacturing engineering experience required.
