JOB SUMMARY
Lead the maintenance department to achieve safety, overall equipment effectiveness and cost control. Accountabilities include overall installation, maintenance and repair of plant assets; coordinating with operations leadership to ensure a safe, predictable manufacturing environment, and maintaining reliability of the processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished. There are many necessary activities to satisfy any of the following performance guidelines.
- Ensure daily operations are in compliance with local, state, and federal agencies for hazardous materials i.e. anhydrous ammonia and HCFC and HFC refrigerants
- Handle current refrigerant processes and future expansion of refrigeration processes.
- Develop master maintenance schedules which serve as associated vehicle for production / supply match communication to operations and manufacturing (existing / new equipment, impacts of non-contingencies, etc.).
- Ensure all preventive maintenance is completed in a timely and accurate manner. Through preventative and corrective maintenance, maintain high-speed, automated, electromechanical production / packaging equipment.
- Hire, train and develop staff, including performance evaluations, performance management and general supervision of staff.
- Coach, mentor, and lead direct reports to accomplish goals of the location plan and personal goals for each staff member.
- Perform required monitoring of building, machinery, and plant equipment including but not limited to action alert communications and coordination of activities with deployment resources (outside contractors) and monitor their actions.
- Drive best practices, continuous improvements and maintain close and knowledgeable relationships of operations from selected vendors who support the maintenance department (Six Sigma / Lean manufacturing principles)
- Plan annual budget and capital project lists for the department.
- Evaluate mechanical and electrical equipment failures, communicate, make suggestions for equipment improvements, and be able to install modifications.
- Provide leadership and accountability for overall facility and investments needed to support the maintenance department and alignment across plant maintenance operations and key support areas.
- Provide leadership for application configurations, systems, tools, and process implementations for the maintenance staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, maintenance or equivalent experience
- Licensing Required:
- Hazwoper Certificate or ability to obtain
- OSHA certified or ability to obtain and maintain
- Boiler's license or ability to obtain
- Obtain and maintain lockout/tagout (LOTO)
- Experience
- Three or more years of maintenance supervision experience with packaging, food processing equipment and repairs
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Ammonia refrigeration desired

- Ability to maintain compliance with USDA, FDA, OSHA, AIB and all other regulatory agencies while complying with good manufacturing practices
- Capability in preventive and predictive maintenance / ammonia and refrigerant systems
- Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and understand instructions, equipment manuals, mechanical and electrical schematics and blueprints as well as food safety, sanitation and safety procedures
- Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of equipment and work tools in a food manufacturing
- HVAC, PM and operational ability
- Knowledge of motor controls, photo eyes, proximity sensors, hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes
- Project management and decision making skills
- Solid mechanical, electrical, and repair troubleshooting abilities and skills, including PLC background
- Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English
