_About This Role_
The Manager, Manufacturing guides and directs the activities of exempt Production Supervisors involved in various manufacturing operations and functions.
Responsibilities:
+ Directs and counsels Production Supervisors in their planning, organizing and controlling of production output, costs and quality. Coordinates production activities with Production Supervisors in the major functional areas of responsibility to meet production schedules in the most efficient and effective manner.
+ Establish and/or refine departmental methods and processes and implement company policies and procedures in relation to functional activities.
+ Manage all activities for assigned functional area on a day-to-day basis to maximize efficiency, maintain harmony, morale inclusive of employment, training, counseling of employees, as required.
+ Anticipate future requirements for production function, manpower skills, production processes, and tooling recognizing the high technology level of products.
+ Establish production approaches and methodology after review of engineering drawings.
+ Serve as a key resource to supervisors in scheduling, manning, material requirements and substitutions at the cost center level.
+ Ensure Production Supervisors are staffed at optimum levels consistent with work schedules.
+ Ensure that labor and expense charges within area of responsibility are accurately reported.
+ On guidance/direction from the management team, implement longer range strategic objectives.
+ Understand and manage department budgets.
+ Liaise with Engineering, Quality, EHS, HR, Planning and other functional support groups to ensure proper partnering across production lines.
+ Ensure safety and environmental requirements are followed.
+ Partner with HR to manage employee relations issues.
+ Performs other job-related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Qualifications - External
Education:
+ Bachelor degree required in Business, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering or related field.
Position Requirements:
+ Must have a tactful personality and effective interfacing skills to adequately resolve internal and external disputes.
+ Demonstrated/proven leadership skills and sound organizational skills.
+ Requires excellent oral/written communication skills inclusive of presentation skills.
+ Requires ability to work independently and manage several projects simultaneously both within and across teams.
+ Demonstrated analytical skills including budgeting, preparing project estimates and tracking/monitoring actuals.
+ Must be able to successfully lead within a dynamic work environment.
+ Position requires strong business acumen, leadership, teambuilding and communication skills.
+ Must have demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional team.
+ 7-10 years manufacturing experience with 4 years minimum of supervision experience preferred.
+ Strong organizational, human relations, and problem-solving skills.
+ Experience in Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma preferred.
+ Microsoft software knowledge required (Outlook, Excel, Word).
