Are you an experienced Geotechnical Field Technician with a passion for marine environments? Are you ready to take your career to the next level and embark on a thrilling journey at sea? We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Permanent Marine (On Vessel, at Sea) Geotechnical Field Technician. In this role, you will be working on board our state-of-the-art research vessels, where you will play a crucial part in conducting essential geotechnical investigations and contributing to groundbreaking scientific research.
Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Marine Geotechnical Field Technician, your key responsibilities will include:
1. Performing geotechnical investigations and inspections on board our research vessels, including soil sampling, testing, and geophysical surveys.
2. Troubleshooting and maintaining geotechnical equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability during marine operations.
3. Documenting and reporting on geotechnical findings, and contributing to the analysis and interpretation of data.
4. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, and marine crew to achieve project objectives.
5. Ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment at sea.
6. Assisting in the planning and execution of offshore projects, including logistics, equipment preparation, and deployment.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this role will have the following qualifications:
1. A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Geotechnical Field Technician or a similar role.
2. Proven experience in troubleshooting and electrical troubleshooting, with a strong understanding of geotechnical equipment and tools.
3. A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Marine Science, or a related field.
4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively document and report on geotechnical findings.
6. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and adapt to the challenging conditions of working at sea.
7. A valid seafarer's medical certificate and survival at sea training certificate would be advantageous.
