About the Job
Main Purpose of the Role:
Coordinate all functions for vessels arriving and sailing at the Ports of Los Angeles, Los Angeles, Oakland, and Seattle / Tacoma through the direction of clerk supervision within guidelines of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. This includes oversight responsibility / accountability for coordination of pilotage, docking, notification of issues involving USCG, CBP, and other Government officials and agencies. Direct management of arranging labor in conjunction with MTOs to work the vessels with our stevedore vendors, checking compliance of contracts with various entities, reconcile and approve invoices, approving and providing rates for OOG and breakbulk cargo, preparing various reports after vessel departure. Monitor and action timely preparation of reports for all shipping services calling the designated Ports, monitor and record Cost Savings on a weekly basis. Customer and ZIM problem solving regarding Marine, Terminal Operations and other duties assigned to support the branch.
Main Tasks:
Facilitating and providing guidance for employees under my supervision.
Proactive and effective planning of vessel operations related to service levels and equipment requirements.
Ensuring the efficiency of vessel calls at the designated ports.
Coordination of Branch activities with various departments.
Finding Cost Savings within Marine Operations.
Providing cost and approval for all import and export OOG and break bulk shipments for the designated ports.
Monitor vessel activity prior to arrival and during port stay as related to labor requirements and productivity
Monitor Cold Treatment Reefer Containers
Make cost efficient decisions concerning the ordering of labor for vessels in coordination with terminal stevedores.
Confirm adherence and audit stevedoring invoices for errors.
Work with major shippers of High Value Cargo to coordinate delivery of their cargo prior to or directly to the vessel or truck during cargo operations.

Requirements:
• Academic education: Maritime College Degree, Shipboard experience, Maritime operational experience.
• Experience: 5-7 years relevant Maritime Industry experience.
• Experience in the shipping/transportation industry in Operations or equivalent is highly preferred.
• Experience working in Union Labor environment and contract knowledge.
• Experience in Stevedoring ( a plus )
• Background with Microsoft and Windows Programs.
