JOB SUMMARY:
Mid-Ohio Food Collective (MOFC) is looking for a Seasonal Market Specialist to work at our Mid-Ohio Market at Norton. This position would be responsible for assisting in the day- to-day operations of the market.
This assignment is scheduled to last until March 2025.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preps and stages produce pallets for the market floor.
- Organizes and manages product movement of inventory.
- Maintains produce cooler.
- Ensures all produce is pulled and organized before bringing it to the market floor.
- Provides quality check of all food products.
- Uses warehouse equipment to retrieve pallets from freezer/cooler storage area.
- Assists and directs volunteers as needed.
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following safety practices and policies.
- Participates in special projects as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Certifications: High School Diploma/GED required. Food Safety Certification (provided by MOFC).
Experience: Must have experience providing customer service to members of the public. Experience utilizing Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook is required. Knowledge of food pantry operations or grocery store/market experience is preferred. Experience operating a forklift and/or electric pallet jack is preferred.
Skills/Competencies: Strong organization, communication and people skills are required. Must have excellent customer service and communication skills. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Computer skills are necessary for maintaining Market records and completing monthly/annual reports. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment. Being a self-starter is highly preferred. Must be able to represent Mid-Ohio Food Collective with professionalism when interacting with customers, volunteers, community members, and staff. Ability to train and retrain volunteers to achieve set goals.
JOB CONDITIONS:
Normal office and market environment. Must be able to work in varying climate temperatures as some duties are performed outdoors.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to perform moderate to heavy physical labor (lift 30 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally). Daily walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling (300 lbs. with use of manual or electric pallet jack). Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching is required.
