Marketing & Communications Coordinator
Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications, El Museo del Barrio is seeking a Marketing & Communications Coordinator to support its efforts to increase awareness of and engagement with the museum's exhibitions, permanent collection, and educational and public programs. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day production of projects, including but not limited to e-blasts, content development, social media, and administrative duties as needed. This is a hybrid position that requires a minimum of two days in the office per week and availability to cover select evening and weekend events.

Responsibilities
- Marketing Campaigns: Assist in the development and execution of comprehensive marketing campaigns for exhibitions, programs, and events. Coordinate with internal departments to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
- Social Media Management: Manage and grow El Museo del Barrio’s social media presence on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube. Ideate content ideas, schedule posts, engage with followers, and analyze performance metrics. Capturing and editing short-format videos for TikTok, Shorts, and Reels. Cover live events via social media.
- Email Marketing: Develop and manage email marketing campaigns. Create engaging newsletters and promotional emails to inform our audiences. Ensure all segment lists are up to date.
Website Management: Update and maintain content on the museum’s website. Ensure information is current and accurately reflects upcoming events and exhibitions. - Event Support: Assist in the planning and promotion of museum events, including exhibition openings, educational programs, and community outreach activities. Coordinate marketing efforts to maximize attendance.
- Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns using tools such as Google Analytics, E-mail analytics, and social media insights. Provide regular reports and recommendations for improvement.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to align marketing strategies with institutional goals. Collaborate with external partners, media contacts, and social media influencers to expand the museum’s reach.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or Communications or related field and 1-2 years’ experience, preferably in an arts and culture organization or nonprofit agency.
- Well versed in social media platforms
- Proficient in Adobe Suite, including, but not limited to, InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator in a Mac environment.
- Experience in Video editing.
- Exceptional writing, editing, messaging, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work under deadline pressures while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects, achieve organizational goals, maintain commitments, and meet strict deadlines in a highly demanding and fast-paced work environment.
- Strong collaboration skills to work with diverse staff across different departments.
- Knowledge of art and Latin American culture preferred, and familiarity with East Harlem cultural assets a plus.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Salary Range: $45,000– $50,000, dependent on experience
