About the Job
Responsible for assisting other team members in implementing marketing plans and developing communications tactics based on departmental and organizational goals. This includes assisting with writing, proofreading, editing and acquiring approvals on marketing materials, as well as providing design direction when appropriate and managing projects to stringent deadlines.
Our internship program is designed to give students experience with projects and performing tasks within their hired work area. You will be exposed to other areas within the organization by participating in development, culture and volunteer events. This paid internship is 10-12 weeks in length with the possibility of extending hours into the school year.
Our internship program holds an 80/10/10 approach, meaning that 80% of your work time will involve performing tasks or working on projects within your hired work area. Another 10% of the time, you will be exposed to learning in other areas within your assigned division to get more corporate experience. Then, the final 10% will be spent in shared experiences across the organization, where you will get to really learn about our culture and work environment.
Responsibilities:• Collaborate with Sales and Marketing team members to create company materials and communications. Write, proofread, edit, and submit creative for compliance review. Creative contributions may include materials and communications ranging from printed marketing materials to Web pages and public relations projects.
• Participate in the development and distribution of company communications, including developing copy while taking into consideration the intended audience and media, handling the editing and routing of materials for approval (compliance and executive), providing design assistance as needed, and coordinating the distribution of such communications (e.g. e-mail marketing messages and other communications as assigned).
• Interpret and analyze comments and recommendations of various Sammons Financial Group member company professionals and departments as part of the review and approval process. Responsible for incorporating feedback into the final marketing piece as deemed appropriate.
• Assist team members in research and compile examples of industry trends and information on how to market to specific audiences based on the target market for a particular product; share findings and provide ideas for marketing applicable product lines and services.
• Collaborate with and provide creative direction to Graphic Designer regarding aesthetics.
- Working towards Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, English, or Journalism preferred
- Excellent writing, editing, and oral-communication skills and the ability to communicate in writing both technical data and promotional materials
- Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) and American Psychological Association (APA) styles
- Knowledge and ability to understand and interpret organizational information, including highly technical terminology relating to product
- Working knowledge of computer operating systems, including Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, as well as change work practices and priorities in response to changing conditions or multiple work demand
- Ability to work without close supervision, taking responsibility to ensure assigned projects are completed on time and within quality standards
- Ability to work well with all types of individuals (office personnel and sales associates)
- Ability to prepare and present topics that are moderately complex in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to analyze problems, form solutions, present ideas to management and work within a team environment to complete assigned duties
