Define comprehensive communications and marketing strategies that support UnityPoint Health's mission and vision. Provide leadership, consultation and expertise in one or more key functional areas of marketing, public relations and/or communications.

• Participates in projects to develop communication plans, evaluation methods and creative direction.  
• Work with local departments on activities to achieve business and market goals. 
• Requires highly developed communication skills using independent judgement and decision making to effectively work with all levels of management throughout UnityPoint Health Des Moines’ mission and vision.  
• Contribute to the successful creation of marketing campaigns.  
• Coordinate community special events, programs and seminars.  
• Build effective relationships with the media and/or community contacts and internal stakeholders.  
• Participates in projects that support communications and marketing efforts. 
• This position may be assigned a specific mission to address in an emergency situation to assist in disaster response and recovery as part of the Hospital Emergency Incident Command System.  Situations of a critical nature may require an individual to perform multiple tasks until additional support can be obtained. 
• Performs functions other than described due to extenuating circumstances.

Bachelor's degree required. Emphasis in journalism, communication, public relations or marketing preferred.

Experience: Requires 1-3 years of communications, public relations, and/or marketing experience. Internship experience in a related field can be taken into consideration.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
• Demonstrated creative ability with regard to writing, promotions, advertising and strong editing skills.   
• Knowledge of current trends and techniques in marketing, public relations, media relations, advertising and social media.
• Skilled in managing multiple projects for delivery in a timely manner and within the fiscal budget.
• Requires highly developed communication skills to effectively work with all levels of
• management throughout the UnityPoint Health – Des Moines, its subsidiaries and affiliates.   
• Excellent academic credentials with a track record of professional accomplishments, which demonstrate superior performance, leadership and vision. 
• Ability to work as a team member, creating and maintaining effective working relationships. Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures.
