With office locations around the globe, OCLC employees are dedicated to offering premier services and software to help libraries cut costs while keeping pace with the demands of our information-driven society.We are seeking a Marketing Design Intern for our summer internship program. The internship will occur from May 20 to August 9, 2024 working full time hours.
The Design Team at OCLC provides visual and experience design for OCLC’s global branding and marketing operations, as well as design direction and support for internal teams and external agencies. As a Design Intern, you will work with the In-house design team to create high-impact designs for a global library member audience while contributing to a team that works with executive management, library member leadership and team members across the organization and around the world. You’ll work with creative people in a fast-paced environment with high visibility and expectations.
The Design Intern works with Designers, Copywriters, Product Marketers, and Design Managers to conceive and develop effective marketing materials across a wide range of applications. You will work with a variety of projects including print materials and production, infographics, iconography, illustration, environmental graphics, trade show graphics, web and digital design. You will gain experience with a wide variety of design projects and work alongside designers with a wide array of skillsets.
Responsibilities
Work on wide range of print and digital media including brochures, flyers, postcards, presentations and web
Contribute to the direction of and work within corporate branding guidelines
Think creatively and develop new design concepts, graphics, iconography and layouts
High-quality conceptualization, layout, and print production
Prepare rough drafts and present ideas
Amend final designs to gain full approval
Work as part of a team with copywriters, designers, and product managers
Work on a large, global website with high visibility
Work with internal teams to translate their communication intent into visual form for print and digital
Qualifications
Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, Marketing, or related discipline
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat)
Demonstrable design skills with a strong portfolio
Possession of versatility, conceptual/visual ability and originality
Professionalism regarding time, costs and deadlines
Ability to interact, communicate and present ideas
Knowledge of and ability to create templates for Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Ability to multi-task on projects, while maintaining a good eye for details and still meet necessary deadlines
Problem-solving and creative-thinking skills
Desired but not required
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and related standards and techniques
Photography, videography or motion graphics experience
