We are currently hiring for a Marketing Executive, American Heart Association Ventures based out of our National Center office!.
Location of the selected candidate is flexible provided the location allows for effective and cost-efficient travel and ready collaboration with the American Heart Association Ventures team.

Responsibilities:This individual will implement the Association’s Ventures’ marketing and communications strategy and serves as a strategic partner and advisor to the Ventures investment group leaders, helping them effectively target audiences and deepen our relationships across all Association’s constituents to position the Association’s Ventures as a preeminent venture capital organization. You will direct the strategy, marketing and communications planning, reporting, and social media across national and regional initiatives that support the Association’s Ventures various programs, addressing a broad array of stakeholders including internal staff, donors, other venture funds and the venture ecosystem, portfolio companies and others.
You will collaborate with National Marketing & Communications teams and cross functional peers in the businesses as well as legal and finance departments to enhance and grow the way the Association’s Ventures shows up in the marketplace to emphasize relevance, revenue, and mission impact. All work will be consistent with the Association’s enterprise standards and guidelines.
The position reports to the Managing Partner of the Association’s Ventures. This position also works strategically and collaboratively with other Association Ventures leadership and development staff to create effective marketing and communications strategies and support with a special emphasis on donor support of the Association’s programs, donor communications, portfolio company and venture company awareness, education of internal and external audiences, as well as sensitive issues management in consultation with local, regional, and national leadership.
- Oversee marketing and communications strategies, collateral/content development and campaigns, social media, web presence, conference engagement and all relevant marketing programs to drive the Association’s Ventures’ relevance, growth and mission impact.
- As appropriate and consistent with Association requirements, collaborate with and support the communications efforts of the Association’s Ventures portfolio companies.
- Collaborate and coordinate with the National Marketing and Communications teams in conceptualizing and achieving our short and long-term marketing and brand goals for the Association’s Ventures.
- Provide training and coaching to the Association’s Ventures team members to ensure a consistent and modern approach to how we message our value propositions and accomplishments to the market.
- Perform relevant analysis tracking, reporting, and optimization to continuously evaluate the outcome of our various marketing and communications activities
- Collaborate with cross functional leaders and business units to achieve organizational goals and scale our success.
- Identify and manage external design and other vendors required to support the Association’s Ventures collateral and campaigns
- Maintain familiarity with current and coming marketing, venture capital and other relevant trends
- Stay abreast of relevant marketing/communication technologies, and approaches; evaluate marketing and communications systems, processes, and procedures to drive innovation and continuous improvement; develop reporting tools, analytics, and metrics for marketing programs, to define success for the Association’s Ventures
- Fifteen (15) years+ of marketing and communications experience, which must include extensive healthcare and venture capital market understanding. Non-profit expertise preferred.
- Superior written and oral presentation, communication and story-telling skills
- Demonstrated ability to bring vision to life from concept to creation utilizing traditional and non-traditional avenues for reach and engagement.
- Integrated marketing and brand expert, with a record of success across relevant media channels.
- Strong financial and business skills around P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning as relevant for job requirements
- Leadership and people management skills, recognizing the value of “bottom up” as well as “top down” information and idea flow; ability to deliver results through both influence and control.
- An unparalleled ability to interact credibly and diplomatically with all levels in an organization and in the outside community–tailoring communications effectively for diverse groups and stakeholders including staff, volunteers and the public
- Ability to effectively negotiate and manage agency partnerships, alliances with external organizations, corporate relationships, and vendors, as needed
- Highly effective organizational skills, time management, responsibility, leadership, and motivation.
- Ability to work outside of standard hours which may involve some evenings and/or weekends.
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
