Position Title: Communications and Marketing Intern
Department: Marketing
Position Reports to: Marketing Manager
Position Supervises: This job has no supervisory responsibilities
Position Summary:
Performs various assignments to assist and support the Communications and Marketing Program teams in the overall daily operations of communication, public relations and marketing efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide assistance and support for product and service promotions. Assist with the creative development and/or implementation of marketing campaigns, including – but not limited to – print ads, posters, in-branch signage, flyers and teller take-ones.
• Assist with the development of press releases, media advisories and articles for corporate communications, including – but not limited to- conducting research and/or interviews, copy writing, proof reading, and distribution.
• Assisting with tracking, formatting and archiving reviews and media stories and market research including competitive comparisons as requested
• Assist with marketing materials for new bankers (bio sheets, website info, letters, etc.)
• Assist with client event planning and implementation
• Coordinate big check presentations for the Foundation and a calendar of those scheduled events
• Assist with check disbursements, tracking and reports for Foundation donations and final package process for files
• Assist with the monthly social media calendar
• Assist with coordination of all aspects of corporate-wide and branch-related promotions and projects and business development trade shows as requested. For trade shows, this may include but is not limited to: coordination of volunteers, acquisition of door prizes, coordination of marketing materials and promotional items to be used at the event, set up, take down, and other duties.
• Assist with the organization and maintenance of departmental files, supplies and miscellaneous items as needed.
• Complete other duties as assigned
Education, Certification, License and Experience:
Three years of coursework (working towards a Bachelor’s degree) from a four-year college or university in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or related field with Copy of transcripts may be required. Event planning experience and demonstrated leadership activities desired.
Skills and Knowledge:
Language Skills
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously. Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional manner when dealing with the public.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills; proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, incoming correspondence and memos.
Mathematical Skills
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percent and to interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability
• Must be able to apply common sense understanding to effectively carry out verbal and written assignments. Must possess good judgment and strong problem-solving ability.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak or hear, stand or sit for long periods of time, open filing cabinets, walk, stoop or bend, use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and complete tasks requiring manual dexterity. Ability to drive a vehicle for travel is required for the position.
