Master Plumber Job Summary
Our company is looking for a licensed Master Plumber to work with our commercial clients. You will work with primarily commercial water and septic systems; you will travel to the client’s location, inspect their current system, provide a fair and accurate quote for the work, and perform installations or repairs as needed. Our ideal candidate has 5-10 years of professional experience and is familiar with various types of commercial water systems. You will also help select and train apprentice plumbers to work alongside you in the field.
Master Plumber Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, repair, or replace commercial and residential water systems
- Service plumbing fixtures and equipment
- Provide job estimates
- Train apprentice plumbers
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace
Master Plumber Requirements and Qualifications
- State master plumber's license
- Professional plumbing experience (5-10 years preferred)
- Driver's license and reliable transportation
- Familiar with various plumbing tools and methods
- Physical stamina
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair skills.
- Knowledge of steam, water, and natural gas distribution systems maintenance and repair.
- Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
- Ability to lead others in troubleshooting and emergency repairs.
- Ability to develop and implement planned maintenance programs.
- Ability to read, understand, and follows safety procedures.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
- Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
- Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.

- General plumber: This type of master plumber works on all general plumbing issues, including fixing, repairing and installing pipes, fixtures and appliances.
- Pipefitter: These plumbers maintain and install pressurized pipes in water tanks, pump systems, boilers and furnaces.
- Steamfitter: This type of plumber installs pipes that are used to transport liquids and high-pressure gas safely.
