In this position...
Coordinate production team approvals of supplier owned and in-process packaging, material presentation equipment, and in-plant handling procedures at the Dearborn Truck Plant & Rouge Electric Vehicle Center.
What you'll do...
+ Confirm packaging functionality to form, fit and function
+ Get Ford packaging forms approved at the plant
+ Support returnable containerization (convert cardboard to returnable dunnage).
+ Manage external warehousing and logistics service providers (supporting part re-pack, rust-proofing, container repair, dunnage washing, and long-term part storage).
+ Work with teams, operators, Material Handling and teams to improve workstation material delivery and presentation.
+ Replace/repair Ford owned damaged containers
+ Develop layout proposals for unique operations or line rebalances.
+ Specify, purchase, and coordinate the installation of MH linefeed equipment.
+ Responsible for completing cost studies, capital improvement budget projects, forecasting packaging costs, MH equipment requirements, floor space effect, material flow impact, and FPS/SMF system support.
+ Support new model programs, stockpiling, and capacity alternative planning.
+ Plant CMMS3 packaging data administrator. Confirm supplier packaging information for accuracy in CMMS
+ Participate in local ergonomics committee to correct ergonomic and safety packaging issues and concerns.
+ Maintenance of SMART database and E-ink tags
+ Maintenance of Call Buttons that communicate with MRT screens
+ Participate with PMHV committee for improvement in safety and traffic flow.
+ Initiate corrective actions to alleviate part quality concerns related to dunnage or handling
+ Address supplier compliance issues
+ Participate in SMF planning team supporting lean manufacturing continuous improvement (decanted marketplace, small lot containerization, flexible linefeed, etc.).
+ Determine container fleet size if required
+ Dunnage storage and return strategy
+ Stock pile storage, part preservation
+ Packaging supplies specifications
+ Single point of contact for issuing department purchase orders, RFQ's, and payment approvals.
+ Act as liaison between plant and suppliers to resolve packaging quality concerns and advise and assist suppliers to establish and/or revise packaging to comply with specified guidelines.
+ Manage Ford owned container and material handling maintenance projects
+ Review MP&L Manpower and operations to identify and implement efficiencies
You'll have...
+ High School Diploma or GED
+ 2 or more years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment (internship and coop experience will be considered)
Even better, you may have...
+ Bachelor of Science in Material Handling or Packaging Engineering degree preferred
+ Experience and knowledge of Ford's packaging guidelines and packaging processes desired
+ Knowledge of FPS Synchronous Material Flow
+ Knowledgeable on CPARS/ARIBA and able to write purchase orders for the department
+ Microsoft Office knowledge (Word/Excel/Outlook)

This position is a range of salary grades 7 and 8.
