Job Description
What you’ll do:
M&M Carnot is currently seeking a Material Handler-Forklift Operator to join our team. This position is based out of our Federalsburg MD. facility. The primary function of this role is to be responsible for providing manufacturing expertise and support in the Shipping area including, but not limited to, unloading and allocation of materials, planning, scheduling, verifying, receiving, and shipping in or out at the facility. No relocation benefit is offered for this position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- You will utilize a computer and perform cycle counts of components. Analyze cycle count information to determine the root cause and corrective action. Resolve all errors by researching and auditing transactions.
- You will operate a forklift to transport and locate equipment and materials to required areas.
- You will receive, document, store stage, and issue all job-related material to satisfy production requirements.
- You will support Quality, assembly, and fabrication requirements for materials as needed.
- You will package, create, and band equipment, parts, materials, products, and accessories to minimize damage during shipment or staging.
- You will apply labels, stickers, and stencils as required for identification and ease of storage or shipping.
- You will comply with all safety and industrial hygiene requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment safely and competently. Understand and meet all departmental safety objectives and goals.
- You will perform routine preventative maintenance when required to ensure peak performance of all manufacturing equipment.
- Forklift experience transporting and locating equipment and materials to required areas.
- High school diploma or GED required from an accredited institution.
- Only candidates residing within the immediate area of Sumter (50 miles) will be considered for this position.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US permanently without company sponsorship.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Computer literate.
- Working knowledge of Lean concepts.
- Knowledge of processes and procedures related to steel and bus fabrication, purchasing, receiving, shipping, and inventory control.
- Computer skills to include Excel, Word, & Outlook, and other programs as needed.
Skills:
- Broad range of knowledge in materials planning, scheduling, receiving, shipping, and tracking systems.
- Must be able to multi-task and balance various demands while achieving goals
- Must demonstrate a collaborative style and work effectively in a diverse environment
- Must be a self-starter capable of working with minimum supervision and capable of solving various problems as unusual circumstances arise through interfacing with other departments
- Ability to deal with both internal and external suppliers in a professional manner
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in teams across plant and corporate entities
- Self-motivated and results oriented; strong organizational skills
- Exhibit a strong adherence to quality by continually seeking improvement methods for all functions of the position. Ensure that all products and parts adequately meet Eaton’s quality guidelines as they move throughout the production process. Perform quality checks as instructed.
- Ability to keep assigned work area clean and organized per 5S standards.
