Overview:
Materials Handler
We have an exciting opportunity for a Materials Handler. Under the general direction of the Supply Chain Manager, this position is responsible for managing and controlling inventory, materials, hardware, and shop supplies. This role ensures that all receiving, shipping, and inventory tasks are handled efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with company and government standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Receiving Responsibilities:
- Receive raw materials, parts, operational supplies, maintenance supplies, office supplies, and other items.
- Inspect received items for container damage and label appropriately.
- Verify quantities and descriptions against packing slips.
- Maintain the in-house receiving file system and enter data into the company system.
- Route items to the correct department after receiving.
- Load/unload trucks for freight deliveries.
Shipping Responsibilities:
- Print and review daily Customer Shipping Requirements List.
- Prepare customer shipments, identify any parts needing outside processing, and arrange the correct carrier and freight terms.
- Package and crate parts, ensuring proper documentation and shipping schedules.
- Coordinate pick-ups and deliveries with freight companies.
- Build crates according to shipment size and quantity.
Inventory/Freezer/TATS Responsibilities:
- Perform cycle counts to maintain material inventory accuracy.
- Monitor expiration dates on TATS materials, including paints, adhesives, and sealants.
- Transport materials to relevant departments.
- Manage TATS materials, including freezing, thawing, and returning materials as required.
- Process expired materials by entering appropriate inventory transactions.
General Responsibilities:
- Move shipments, parts, and materials throughout the facility as needed.
- Ensure proper handling of government, customer, and company property according to regulatory standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety regulations.
- Report any defective materials or questionable conditions.
- Maintain high standards of quality and productivity.
- Participate in Kaizen events for continuous improvement.
- Conduct annual physical audits of government property and maintain audit logs.
- Execute weekly cycle counts and distribute tags to personnel.
- Verify count variances through a secondary review process.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing operations environment and/or inventory/stockroom, shipping, receiving preferred.
- Experienced using a PC and related company systems.
