MBA Consulting Services, Inc. is actively seeking a seasoned Project Manager - Mechanical/Industrial Engineer (Material Handling Engineering) to join our team in support of a critical government client in Merrifield, VA. This role is pivotal in enhancing and optimizing the infrastructure that underpins material handling, maintenance policies, and engineering support within the United States Postal Service's Engineering Systems.
As the Project Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of mail processing and distribution centers across the nation. This position offers a unique opportunity for postal retirees with relevant experience to leverage their expertise in a dynamic and impactful environment.
This is a hybrid position, requiring you to work on-site three days a week, ensuring close collaboration with both the client and your team. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients, engineers, and other staff to understand the specified material and the, transport, or other handling needs
- Evaluate current material handling process, considering innovations in material and methods
- Recommend improvements to ensure most efficient and cost-effective handling and packaging procedures
- Draft sketches, samples, and written analysis of proposed designs or improvements to handling system, packaging, and other related elements
- Estimate material needs, costs, and timelines for proposed projects
- Facilitate installation, testing, and debugging phases of projects
- Coordinate work with and deliveries from outside vendors
- Draft, or assist with drafting of, relevant technical documentation, user manuals, and lists
- Perform other related duties as requested
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or relevant area of specialty
- 10+ years of experience in engineering
- Experience using MS Office Suite software (Word, Excel, and Access) and specialized software
- Experience with CAD software (Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD)
- Candidate must be able to sit, stand and work at a computer for prolonged periods
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Ability to work flexible hours when needed
- Travel is required
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check & drug test
- Able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
