Responsibilities:We currently have an opportunity for a Materials & Process Engineer to support activities at our Torrance, California, location. In this position, the successful candidate will provide engineering support for materials and processes, with a focus on soldering and electronic materials. You will also serve as a liaison with groups such as Engineering, Quality, Program Management, Operations, Suppliers, and Supply Chain.
- In this multifaceted position, the candidate will support Traveling Wave Tube and Electronic Power Converter applications for both Space and Air-Sea-Ground applications.
- The focus will be on production support and process improvement, including working with various circuit boards, wires, and electronic component materials.
- Additional work relating to soldering, coating, potting, and laboratory testing may be done.
- The successful candidate will be comfortable interfacing with outside suppliers and coordinating the qualifications of processes.
- The successful candidate for this role will also troubleshoot process problems, interface with internal and external customers, write specifications and procedures, and train operators on processing techniques.
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering and 4 years of prior relevant engineering experience in a production environment.
- Knowledge of engineering materials, as it pertains to a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with materials laboratory equipment and test plans
- Ability to create Materials & Processes engineering documents, such as procurement specifications and assembly instructions.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work in a fast-moving environment under tight schedules and coordinate multiple tasks effectively.
- Must be able to perform technical problem-solving and work closely with production personnel.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
