Position: Materials Product Specialist - Product Management Group
Location: Headquarters - Moon Township, PA

Hours of work: Mondays - Fridays, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM , 40 Hours/Week

The Product Specialist (PS) is responsible for overseeing activated carbon products and other products offered by Calgon Carbon specifically for the treatment and purification of drinking water. The PS must demonstrate either direct drinking water specific knowledge (assets, technologies, applications, etc.) or technical related experience/degree .

The Product Specialist has two main objectives :
1) Support the drinking water business line maximizing profitability and growth, specifically in the activated carbon reactivation sector.

2) Support the drinking water product range with the associated specifications, documentation and inventory management activities

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)

• Task driven Commercial Support related to specific products & customers; Support Sales in developing and maintaining business by providing rationale and cost-effective solutions that best utilize existing products and asset base.
• Engage with our commercial teams to understand customer needs, quality requirements and pricing positioning. Offer assistance for material selection and pricing determination by advising of product availability or proposing alternative products, specifications and/or supply options.
• Assist with costing and pricing implementation under the direction of the Product Manager.
• Support product strategies that include target application identification, competitive analysis, and value proposition development.
• Monitor and analyze product performance metrics, customer feedback, and industry trends to make data-driven recommendations for product improvements.
• Continuously monitor and analyze competitors' products and strategies to identify opportunities and threats in the industry.
• Assist with the required product certifications (i.e. NSF, WQA, AWWA). Rationalize creation of new product specifications vs standard products.
• Assist with all aspects of new Product Development
• Collaborate with various departments, i.e manufacturing, commercial, procurement and logistics, to communicate business line needs (material portfolio, industry demand, product specifications, testing requirements, volume allocations, cost limits).
• Understand manufacturing capabilities and cost levers.
• Assist Manufacturing in maintaining accurate product cost information.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a scientific field, or equivalent from four-year college or university is required
• 0-2 years Related business experience; strong interpersonal and negotiation skills is required
• Related education or experience in relevant industry; strong interpersonal and negotiation skills is preferred
