_Responsibilities_
Textron is seeking a Principal level scientist to develop disruptive technologies and deliver high quality designs to the demands of our military customers. These opportunities present concept development and design challenges in energy efficient, high-stress, high temperature, high-availability systems including a substantial amount of integration with test and manufacturing equipment, developmental test capabilities, and product acceptance equipment.
Qualifications
_Qualifications_
The candidates should have experience serving as a design engineer or scientist and should have strong communications and presentation skills and be comfortable interacting with senior management and customer representatives. Candidates should also have experience in the “design/build/test” process.
Qualifications
+ The candidate should be comfortable as an architect or designer of new material systems with integration skills preferably for military applications.
+ The candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced innovation and experimentation environment.
+ Experience interacting with DoD science and technology community is highly desired.
+ Experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at professional conferences is highly desired.
+ Experience generating competitive, technical proposals for DoD is highly desired.
+ Experience developing advanced concept models and prototypes and conducting feasibility testing and proof of concept demonstrations is highly desired.
+ Experience with any of the following technology areas is highly desired:
+ C/C, SiC, quartz, phenolic, and high temperature materials.
+ Materials development, material topological optimization, energetic materials, and technologies related to thermal protection systems for hypersonic flights.
+ Modeling and simulation and analysis of materials and their properties.
+ Proficiency with any of the following tools is a plus:
+ Matlab, C/C , Python, Ansys HFSS.
+ Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
This position requires that the candidate be a US citizen with or capable of receiving at least a secret level security clearance.
Education
MS or Ph.D. in Material Sciences, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines.
Experience
Ph.D. or MS 3 Years Minimum
