Materials Supervisor - Reading Truck

About the Job
The Materials Supervisor is responsible for directing the activities of material handling team members providing direction and leadership toward the attainment of departmental metrics. Supervisors regularly interact with Production Scheduling, Materials, Engineering, and other departments within the organization.
The Nuts and Bolts
- Supervise the activities of material handling employees in the performance of their jobs - driving to achieve department goals
- Investigate and resolve material flow movement issues, inventory accuracy, and material storage issues
- Monitor potential and current "hot" shortages taking action to eliminate downtime
- Continually monitor safety issues and propose solutions to eliminate potential hazards
- Communicate with planners and other supervisors to ensure material is available when required for use
- Pull needed parts & kit for assembly line bodies prior to production build
- Manage the supermarket and reorder process - ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Monitor build requirements and ensure that material is moved to the production areas in a timely manner
- Develop employees - through formal / informal training, coaching, one-on-one interaction, cross-training, etc. Ensure every job function or task is adequately covered by more than one associate, and to give employees the opportunity to expand their skills
- Work with other associates, supervisors, and departments to drive continuous improvement activity to improve safety, quality, lead-time, on-time delivery, inventory, and labor productivity
- Complete required reports, such as safety, attendance, quality, efficiency, etc.
- Complete performance reviews on direct reports and provide input to other supervisors and managers regarding associates throughout the organization
Required Credentials
- Minimum of three years' experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably in a sheet metal, welding, or fabrication environment
- Experience with pull system for fabricated parts
- Prior experience supervising work of 10+ team members (Handlers)
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook
- Ability to successfully collaborate with a multi-department team
