About the Job
Maintains current MDS status of each resident according to state and federal guidelines as required under the Omnibus Reconciliation Act, Medicare PPS + Medicaid payment systems as applicable. Responsible for MDS/RUGS education. Provide MDS education for staff. Conducts focused audits to ensure documentation supports the clinical, regulatory and financial needs of the Resident. Functions as a liaison between medical providers, Residents, family, and payers to obtain maximum reimbursement for Resident care services. Conducts screening of Residents, and medical records to identify those at higher risk of needing more extensive and/or acute care. Accurate and timely documentation in medical record including clear communication with other members of interdisciplinary team. Coordination of Resident care conferences as needed to facilitate appropriate services, and level of care. Participates in surveys (inspections), and audits conducted by authorized government agencies and payers.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education Requirement :
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Minimum Experience Requirement :
Previous experience within an LTC/Geriatric care required. Knowledge of Nursing and Medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long-term care, including PPS. Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid and payer regulations. Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures that are necessary for providing quality care and maintaining a sound operation. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of computer systems, system applications and other office equipment. Previous experience with quality assurance, documentation review, and appeals process.
Minimum License Requirement :
Current NYS licensure as an RN required. Recommended: Registered Nurse Assessment Coordinator (RNAC) certification.
