PAY RATE: $62.00 - $69.00 per hour

Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Systems Senior Engineer to lead development, research, and analysis of mechanical systems for advanced aircraft.
Candidates must have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills and thrive in a fast-paced, research-oriented environment.
Own the design and analysis of the high-lift flap drive and actuation system on a large cargo experimental aircraft.
Own the design and analysis of the horizontal stabilizer trim drive and actuation system on a large cargo experimental aircraft.
Develop architectures and lay out system designs that will include power transmission components such as transmissions, gearboxes, torque tubes, and ballscrew actuators.
Manage the functional and physical interfaces between the high-lift flap drive and actuation system and the vehicle, as well as between the horizontal stabilizer trim drive and actuation system and the vehicle.
Communicate information about design, requirements, and performance of the applicable systems between the design team, management, customer, subcontractors, and vendors.
Required Skills:
Minimum of B.S. in mechanical or aerospace engineering (or related STEM discipline) plus 7+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of technical education and experience).
Demonstrated experience in the design and analysis of power transmission and actuation systems for large aircraft such as flap drive and actuation systems, slat drive and actuation systems, horizontal stabilizer trim drive and actuation systems, or helicopter drive systems.
Experience with CAD software (CATIA V5 preferred).
Excellent written and communication skills.
Desired Skills:
Experience leading the development of air vehicle systems, from conceptual design through production.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision on these tasks.
Experience with the design and analysis of power transmission components such as gearboxes, transmissions, ballscrews, torque tubes, gimbals, brakes, etc.
Experience with kinematic analysis.
Experience designing and analyzing complex mechanisms.
Experience with system engineering processes or project management, including but not limited to requirements development, system safety analysis, and reliability analysis.
Physical Requirements:
On-site/Hybrid in Manassas, VA - preferred
On-site/Hybrid in Cambridge, MA - acceptable
Fully Remote - acceptable, case-by-base
