The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Anchorage International Airport, is looking for a Mechanic to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
What you will be doing:
In this role, you'll dive into a high-octane world of mechanical mastery and technical finesse. Your days will be filled with the thrill of diagnosing and repairing both gasoline and diesel engines, from the ignition systems and fuel setups to the intricate valve trains and carburetors. You'll be fine-tuning engines to perfection—adjusting injection timings, tweaking governor settings, and swapping out ignition components. As you rev up performance on the road, you'll harness cutting-edge computer diagnostics to tackle electrical system quirks and engine transmission challenges. With hands-on experience repairing and rebuilding everything from clutches and transmissions to hydraulic pumps and steering assemblies, no two days will be the same. You'll embrace the challenge of welding, fabricating, and machining parts with precision, ensuring every repair meets exacting standards. Journey level workers will be required to meet the following:
- Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance.

- Vehicle Maintenance: Knowledge of motor vehicle engines, parts, and systems, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance.

Special Note:
- This position is also eligible for overtime and shift differential.
