POSITION SUMMARY:
Supports in various duties assigned to the Warehouse Department and other Maintenance Departments as needed. This position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pulls supply orders from warehouse stock and staging for future delivery, to include but not limited to custodial supplies, furniture, school nutrition items, textbooks, or other items requested from school locations. Sanitizes and cleans work area and other areas of warehouse, daily as needed.
Assists with Textbook operation as needed. These duties may include: placing Barcode labels on all new textbooks, assisting with sorting and packing of textbooks for delivery, placing textbooks on shelves for stock, assisting with Inventorying of textbooks, delivering textbooks, counting and separating textbooks upon inbound deliveries, and other related textbook duties.
Loads / unloads delivery vehicles and assists Technician/CDL Driver making deliveries, pickups, and transfers to school locations throughout the district. Operates manual and electric pallet jacks, as well as forklifts once proper training and certification of use of equipment is obtained.
Assists with District and emergency and/or general assignments as operationally necessary.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or GED required.
Warehouse experience preferred.
Makes repair decisions which impact the schools/buildings within the district.
Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
Makes decisions and recommendations under the guidance of Warehouse Supervisor, Mechanic III, and Mechanic IV.
Requires regular, frequent contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of importance.
Applies, recommends, and implements technology concepts to improve the effectiveness of the department. Familiarity and knowledge of computer applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Google Suite).
Minimal-major depending on task being performed.
Variable work environment – Facilities Services, school grounds, and all buildings; subjected to a wide range of weather conditions and temperatures.
May be on call after normal work hours (24 hours a day, seven days a week) and in emergency situations.
Walking, standing, kneeling, driving for eight (8) hours per day; must be able to climb a thirty (30) foot ladder and negotiate stairs.
Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds frequently and one-hundred (100) pounds occasionally.
As part of the hiring process for this position, a pre-offer/pre-employment physical examination is required. Applicants are responsible for the cost of the examination (up to $300) and will be reimbursed upon successfully passing the examination and hired with Clayton County Public Schools-Facilities Services.
NOTE: This is a grade 18, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a Step 4.
