Textum OPCO, LLC is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer for it's Belmont, NC textile manufacturing operation.

The industries that we serve include aerospace, space, defense, energy, and infrastructure. Whether it's thermal protection systems for space vehicles, preforms for CMC components, or preforms and fabrics for carbon-carbon processing, we have the experience and expertise to help ensure our customer's success both as a reinforcement provider and through delivery of finished composite parts.
We are looking for a qualified Mechanical Design Engineer to support both development and production activities related to textile manufacturing. This role requires a significant level of prior experience. The ideal candidate will have experience designing, building, and working with mechanical systems; interfacing with vendors, technicians, and peers; and communicating challenges, identifying needs, and formulating plans to overcome those challenges and needs. The Mechanical Design Engineer will perform a wide variety of activities including, but not limited to: custom equipment design, build, and maintenance; production equipment style changes; additive manufacturing; and PLC programming.
This is a full-time, direct hire position with 1st shift hours.

Responsibilities
Perform a wide variety of engineering tasks, including but not limited to: digital design, equipment start up, process monitoring, process definition and new product introduction
- Work from the functional requirements of a product to create the tools and equipment needed to manufacture it
- Manage vendors to procure custom hardware
- Implement process monitoring, feedback, and in situ quality control
- Document and manage the overall build process and equipment implementation
- Collaborate with other team members to build and test prototypes and first articles with new equipment
- Support transition of new equipment to the production team
- Write technical documentation to capture knowledge, assist with training, and control use parameters
- Provide ongoing support to production with maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades
Requirements
- Applicants must be an exclusive US Citizen
- Applicants must be willing and able to apply for and maintain a US DoD Secret Security Clearance
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required
- Specialization in mechanical engineering is desired
- Design experience with SolidWorks is desired
- Experience working with advanced textile weaving is a plus
- Experience working with composite materials is a significant advantage
- General mechanical/technical aptitude and good manual dexterity required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment autonomously and under pressure and complete all assigned tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and perform basic math calculations
- Ability to solve problems using existing procedures to perform straightforward tasks
- Can work well with others in a diverse group and foster a cooperative work environment
- Possess a working knowledge of MS Office
- Ability to operate a variety of hand tools and machinery
- Candidates will be required to pass a drug test
- Candidates will be required to pass a background check
