Job Purpose
Assistant Chief Engineer supports Chief Engineer to judge technical output of assigned function areas.
Key Accountabilities
Support CE to:
• Judge performance, function, and quality targets from a complete vehicle viewpoint. Balance against business targets, product/technology strategies, cost, and delivery. \
• Judge the appropriateness of requirements and approve adjustments for market representativeness, competitiveness and regulation.
• Determine design strategy for long-term cost/performance balance. 20 Support CE to:
• Judge technical feasibility of complex component and system designs to achieve performance targets, function requirements, and manufacturing requisites.
• Judge appropriateness of function group tools and methods.
Support CE to
: • Judge technical work for sound logic, accuracy and adherence to Honda standards.
• Provide feedback to improve technical documents. Collaborate with project management teams to correlate report method and contents.
Support CE to:
• Break down high level strategies/direction into clear tactical plans. Explain how they relate to the division's strategy, direction, and the organization's mission and vision.
• Ensure work is prioritized in line with division/company requirements and priorities.
• Teach engineering principles, philosophy, and best working practices that are in alignment with business conditions and strategies.
• Motivate associates to achieve technical area's goals and grow professionally.
Support CE to:
• Set strategy for new tools and methods to improve efficiency/accuracy.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Minimum Experience:
- 18 years previous engineering experience, preferably in Power Sports industry

Working Conditions
• Travel: Up to 5% may be required. Amount varies based on project demands/responsibilities, conferences, etc.; includes possible overseas travel.
• Physical: Primarily at a desk, some work in a lab and/or test vehicle, frequent keyboarding. Frequent kneeling, standing, reaching, squatting, bending, pushing and lifting. Some physical effort required (pushing 20+ pounds; lifting 15–30 pounds).
• Hazards: Risks found in a typical office & shop setting. Exposure to explosives/flammables, pressurized equipment, toxic chemicals and moving parts.
• Overtime: Overtime expected based on project demands/responsibilities. Maintains professional conduct and follows all departmental, safety DEPARTMENT, and COMPANY policies, Procedures, AND rules.
